When the web site, "Local Children's Television Shows of the Midwest," was originally created, the purpose was to preserve any history about those shows which might still exist. Since the creation of that web site, a fair amount of interesting information has come to light. But sadly, a number of nearly forgotten shows have also come to light; and as of this writing, there isn't enough information about them to warrant a separate web page for each of those shows.
However, the information gathered so far has been assembled into this single web page in the hopes that it will jog a reader's memory or perhaps bring the author into contact with someone who was involved with a given show in some way. Hopefully, one day, enough information about one of these shows will be gathered to warrant giving it a web page of its own.
This program featured a lady (name unknown) reading books to kids.
This local program featured a clown (played by Pat Tobin), a studio audience filled with kids, and cartoons.
The only footage of this show known to exist is the opening, shown on KTIV as a part of an ad to celebrate the station's fortieth anniversary.
Kinescope footage from this locally produced program was shown to celebrate KSFY's thirtieth anniversary in 1990. The title was accompanied by the tune, "Pop Goes the Weasel," used as the theme song. The footage included host, "Miss Carolyn," and a boy performing the Pledge of Allegiance.
The show was aired at roughly 8AM. The host, Carolyn Flemming, started the show with the Pledge of Allegiance. Afterwards, the show featured fun and games, such as musical games. The exact nature of the games depended on how many kids "Miss Carolyn" had to work with in the studio on a given day. The show was regarded as being "educational;" and, it had the look of a teacher in a classroom full of "students."
A copy of KSOO's/KSFY's 30th anniversary show, "Extra," was found recently. And, more information about "Bozo the Clown" and "Romper Room" will probably be added. In fact, one of these two shows might even get their own web page.
