Farley Farm

This aerial photo taken by the USGS on 23 April 1996 shows the farm place once owned and operated by the family of Francis "Frank" William Farley (upper right of the center of the photo). The West Brule Creek can be seen winding through the northwest corner of the farm. The farm is located in the southwest quarter of section 23 of Prairie Township, Union County, South Dakota.

Frank also owned the west half of the southeast quarter of section 22 (slightly above the center of the right half of the photo). James Maher, husband of Frank's paternal aunt, once owned this entire southeast quarter.

A country school house once stood at the southeastern tip of section 22, northwest of the road intersection (slightly below the center of the photo). This was reported to have been the site of the Rainy Vale School. The school building is gone; but, some of the building's foundation still exists at the site.
