The Walsh Bros. Food Market was owned and operated by Wilfred Walsh. During the second world war, Wilfred disposed of the business when he decided to enter the service.
Vic's Associated Market was owned and operated by Victor Jensen. In early August of 1944, Victor sold the business to Wilfred Walsh in order to focus his attention on the insurance agency he purchased from Mrs. Eric O. Nygaard.
Wilfred Walsh had operated a grocery business in Beresford, SD before taking over Vic's Associated Market. He had sold his previous business to enter the service. However, he learned that regulation changes meant that he would not be called for service. So, he purchased Vic's Associated Market from Victor Jensen in August 1944 and opened his new store for business on August 14, 1944.
