History of the IGA and QF grocery stores

Christensens' IGA

In 1968, Mr. and Mrs. L. Christensen purchased the R and J Grocery from Mr. and Mrs. R. Guinther and renamed it IGA. At the time, the store was located on the corner of Third and Hemlock. In 1972, Christensen's purchased the two variety stores owned by B. Keffer remodeled them into a large grocery store, located at 120 North Third Street.

Quality Foods

On March 1, 1993, Mr. and Mrs. B. Van Buskirk purchased the IGA store from Christensens and renamed it QFC (Quality Food Center) and later shorted the name to QF. The store continued until 2002, when the Van Buskirk's grocery business was combined with the Fiesta Foods, owned by the Carlsons.
